VTT: Continuous solution management in close-knit partnership since 2011

VTT needed a flexible partner for solution management. The management of VTT’s Oracle E-Business Suite enterprise management system was handed to Attido after a public bidding in 2011. A requirement for successful co-operation was Attido’s ability and willingness to adapt to VTT’s processes.

”For us, the role of a solution management partner is first and foremost a cooperative one. VTT’s own solution area and IT management experts and the partnering entity’s experts together make sure that a system serves well and has the best possible availability in the short and long term. As a result of this cooperation, the availability of the ERP system is now on an extremely high level”, says VTT’s CIO Sakari Roininen.

VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is a leading research and technology company in the Nordics, with a strong national position in Finland. With its research and information knowhow, VTT provides expert services to domestic and international customers and partners both in private business and the public sector.

Special requirements

Due to financing mechanics, there are special requirements when it comes to VTT’s finance and operational management.

”VTT is a non profit organization. Project finance management is a special case with us, as there are both a variety of public funding – state and EU-based – as well as private funding in our financial structure. The different components must remain in their silos.”, Roininen says.

The skill and will to adapt

VTT has been using the Oracle eBusiness Suite enterprise management system. The solution management was handed to Attido after a public bidding in 2011. VTT had defined its own, solution-specific team based process so specifically that one of the partner criteria was the ability and willingness to adapt to the internal ways of operating.

”We wanted to find a partner that would engage in a tight, confidential cooperation. It was important to find an adequate team of experts to run our customer relationship. Attido has been motivated to work according to our process, which can be seen in the end result. The high-class expert resources that we need have been available to us”, Roininen explains.

VTT has been satisfied with Attido’s service. The cooperation has continued after another bidding process in 2015.
”The English language has an apt term for this; ’strategic fit’. The supplier and the customer must value each other. That’s when the work and the motivation remain on a good level. That’s something that has worked well with Attido”, Roininen says.

Good customer satisfaction

Regular customer satisfaction surveys on the cooperation have been carried out with VTT’s key people and experts. ”The score is always nice and high. This is not just the positive gut feeling of the CIO, but the opinion of a wider group.”
